Bring your notes with you.
Vellum pages are plain Markdown, so notes from other apps move in as they are: folders become notebooks, links keep working, and attachments come along.
Obsidian
Import a vault folder, or a zip of it. Folders become notebooks, [[wikilinks]] and ![[embeds]] keep working, frontmatter becomes properties and tags, callouts render, and images, PDFs and other files become the pages’ attachments. Everything exports back as an Obsidian-compatible .zip.
Jupyter
Open .ipynb files: Markdown cells become text, code cells become runnable cells, and saved outputs (text, tables, images, charts) are kept. Any page exports back to .ipynb.
Markdown, text and Inkdrop
Import .md and .txt files, a folder of them, or a zip. Inkdrop notes are Markdown: export them from Inkdrop as Markdown files, then import the folder. Images linked from the web are never fetched behind your back: Vellum offers to download them into your pages.
Import an Obsidian vault into Vellum
Open the command palette
In Vellum, press Ctrl K (⌘ K on a Mac) and type > to see commands.
Import the vault
Choose “Import folder or Obsidian vault” and pick the vault’s folder (or “Import markdown files, notebooks or a zipped vault” for a .zip).
Check the result
Folders arrive as notebooks with their pages and files. Vellum offers to download any web images the pages link to.
