Flashcards that live in your pages.
Write a card as one line of text, next to what you are learning. Vellum finds the cards, schedules them with FSRS, and brings each back just before you would forget it.

Cards are plain text
A card is a line in any page, so pages stay readable in any Markdown editor and cards survive export. Spaces around :: matter: std::vector is not a card.
Capital of France :: Paris
- Hola ::: Hello
The {{c1::mitochondria}} makes {{c2::ATP}}.
Name the three
states of matter

Solid, liquid
and gasThe full syntax is in the docs.
Review a few minutes a day
- FSRS-5 schedules every card from your answers (Again, Hard, Good, Easy), aiming for the retention you choose (90% by default).
- Decks are a page, a notebook, a tag or everything; daily limits (20 new cards, 200 reviews by default) keep sessions short.
- Keyboard and touch: Space shows the answer, 1–4 rate it; on a phone, swipe left for Again and right for Good.
- No streaks or scores. Progress shows what you remember and what is coming.
Cards from your reading
The optional on-device assistant drafts cards from a page, a selection, or a PDF, EPUB, Word file or slides, page by page. You edit, keep or reject each draft; kept cards link back to the passage or page they came from. Check them: the local model is small.
Sync and Anki
Reviews sync between your devices with encrypted sync, merged so reviews on two devices never conflict. Cards come in from and go out to Anki as text files (Basic, reversed and Cloze note types); .apkg packages with media and review history are not supported yet.
